10 Decor Tips to “Summer”ize Your Bedroom!

Summer is almost here and we couldn’t be more excited about the longer days, the soul-warming sunlight, the beachy vacations, and the endless options of outdoor activities! And what better way is there to efficiently welcome the summer season than to decorate our homes with the season in mind?

While many people tend to solely decorate their more visited rooms for the summer, such as their kitchens and living rooms, not enough folks decorate their bedrooms. Bedrooms are our locations of solitude and solace, where we want to go to relax and unwind, day or night.

And doesn’t that warrant some summer-themed decorations, too? Without further ado, let’s look at some superb tips for decorating your bedroom specifically for the summer!

1.Summer Bedspreads, Please!
It’s time to put away your heavy winter comforter and replace it with a summer bedspread. Not only do summer bedspreads match the overall theme and color schemes of the season, but they also will keep you more comfortable while snug in bed as they are lighter in weight.

When sifting through summer bedspreads, make sure to select an option (or options) that are lighter in color and in weight– and make sure that they match your overall desired theme.

2.Throw on Some Matching Throw Pillows
Where would bedspreads of any kind be without beautiful throw pillows? We highly recommend that you add some quaint and theme-matching throw pillows to “throw” on top of your bedspread. However, don’t go overboard. You should altogether have a maximum of eight pillows (that includes throw pillows, shams, and sleeping pillows).

3.Let the Light In with White and/or Sheer Curtains
One of the most enticing elements of summer is its abundance of sunlight. That is why we should let the light in throughout the season! And there really is no better way to do that in your bedroom than setting up some white and/or sheer curtains on your window curtain rods! That way, the light can seamlessly flood your room and overall “brighten” its look!

4.Switch to a Nautical or Coastal Theme
When it’s summertime, you can opt for a summer-like theme to have throughout your bedroom! You can add items that have nautical or even coastal themes on them! For example, throw pillows with anchors for the nautical theme or beach wall art for a coastal theme. The possibilities are really endless here, not to mention fun!

5.Light over Dark
As mentioned in point three, light is your best friend during the summer time. There’s so much of it– and you should take advantage of it. When it comes to adding any decorations, bedspreads, or other decor items, you should always opt for those of lighter colors and shades than those of darker ones. Darker ones can outweigh the lighter ones and completely unbalance your theme!

6.Rid the Bedroom of Clutter
This point can be applied to nearly any season, but it is especially important during the summer season. Summer is all about “going lighter,” so be sure to declutter your bedroom of unnecessary “stuff.”

7.Remove “Cozy” and “Warm” Items
Speaking of removing certain items from your bedroom, you should also store certain winter items out of view. These can include objects like fuzzy blankets and rugs, as these can simply be hot to have nearby or even to look at on those really hot and humid summer days!

8.Go Vintage
Going vintage is never a bad idea come summer, as this style boasts elegantly weathered objects that are easy to love and admire. Add some vintage items around your bedroom, like globes, books, vases, and others you deem worthy!

9.Add Flowers and Green Plants

                                             summer bedspreads

This is yet another point that can be applicable to nearly any season, yet needs to be mentioned regardless. Adding live flowers and green plants around your home is one of the best interior design hacks to date. “Enliven” your bedroom by placing colorful flowers and green plants of your favorite kinds around your room. You won’t be sorry you did!

10.Add Sounds!
While your sense of sight has undoubtedly been satisfied with all the aforementioned points, what about sound? We all know the tranquility the sound of ocean waves, birds chirping, and even summer rain storms can evoke. Why not have those sounds playing all the time during the summer?

That’s right– you can hook up a speaker system that plays these sounds on repeat if you so chose. This option is ideal for anyone, but especially for those located in more urban settings. Escape the outdoor heat and bustle, then surround yourself with peaceful sounds in your own indoor sanctuary.
